SX-70 Serial Number Calculator

Ever wondered exactly what day your folding SX-70 camera was made? William Sommerwerck, a visitor to this site, has provided a table which can be used to decode this information-- and more-- from an SX-70 serial number. I've built a little Perl script based on this algorithm to produce this interactive calculator. Have fun!

NOTES:

• The serial number is located on the underside of the top panel of the camera. You may also view an illustration pointing out the serial number location.
• The serial number will either consist of 10 alphanumeric characters starting with a letter, or 11 characters starting with a number.
• This calculator will work only with folding SX-70 (including Sonar versions) and SLR 680 cameras. It will not work with rigid plastic SX-70 cameras such as the Pronto! or OneStep series. It also will not work with the new 690 (SLR 690) camera.
